Homage Presents: Joel Walkowski & Jon Lampley
Music, Literature, & Laughs wrapped in a framework of authenticity and growth What can a losing football team teach you about being a man? Join author and comedian Joel Walkowski and musician Jon Lampley for a night of stories, songs, comedy, and conversation built around Walkowski's new memoir, Honolulu Blues: How Loving a Losing Team Created a Winning Man. Using a lifetime of Detroit Lions heartbreak as its playbook, Honolulu Blues explores fathers and sons, addiction and sobriety, failure, grief, generational trauma, and the strange ways football gives men a language for love when the actual words can be harder to find. Walkowski will read selections from the book with Lampley providing a live musical backdrop. Lampley will also play songs of his own, and the two will open things up into a conversation about football, masculinity, family, fandom, and what our favorite teams teach us about who we're supposed to be. Comedian Eli DiSabato opens the night. Part book reading, part concert, part comedy show, part locker-room conversation with considerably more emotional literacy. Wednesday, October 14 · 7:00 PM Homage Bar · Columbus, Ohio Free and open to the public.
