The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) presents the Winds Series featuring "Places We Can No Longer Go," performed by the CCM Wind Symphony under the direction of music director and conductor Kevin Michael Holzman. The concert features guest composer John Mackey and Grammy Award-nominated soprano Lindsay Kesselman. Mackey's "Places We Can No Longer Go" explores his mother's experience with dementia, telling the story of the disease in reverse as confusion gives way to clarity and grief transforms into comfort. The program opens with CCM Commercial Music Production faculty member Jasmine Guo's "the sound of where i came from," a musical exploration of home, culture and personal memory commissioned by the League of American Orchestras. The performance concludes with Mackey's newest work, "The isle is full of noises," inspired by William Shakespeare's "The Tempest." Join CCM for an evening of powerful contemporary music and compelling stories brought to life through wind ensemble and voice.
