Boris Lurie: Echoes of Memory
Join us for an evening of art, live music, and conversation exploring the life and work of Boris Lurie (1924-2008) - a Holocaust survivor, artist, activist, and founder of the NO!art movement. Presented in connection with the Maltz Museum exhibition Boris Lurie: Nothing To Do But To Try, the program brings Lurie's artwork and story to life through historical images, a multimedia presentation, and live solo violin performance. Stephanie Stebich, Executive Director of the Boris Lurie Art Foundation, will share insights into Lurie's life, art, and legacy, followed by a performance by violinist Ilana Zaks-Nederlander. The program pairs works from the exhibition with solo violin pieces by Jewish composers who were persecuted during the Holocaust, including Hans Krása, Szymon Laks, Dick Kattenburg, Erwin Schulhoff, and Ernest Bloch. The evening will wrap up with a Q&A with Stebich and Zaks-Nederlander, giving attendees a chance to ask questions and explore the connections between art, music, history, and memory. 🍽️ Dinner will be provided 🎓 Extra credit may be available for select courses - details coming soon! 🎟️ Free and open to the entire CWRU community; registration is required --- Event Details:
