Program about the Great Depression and the New Deal

Program about the Great Depression and the New Deal at Senior Center Mandy Altimus Stahl, archivist at the Massillon Museum, will present a program "The Great Depression and the New Deal (1929-1940)" on Thursday, September 17at 12:15 PM at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, located at 425 Prospect Street in Dover. Stahl will speak about the causes and aftermath of the Stock Market crash of 1929. She will also share how America and local communities scrambled to recover from the depression. Mandy Altimus Stahl has worked at the Massillon Museum for more than 20 years. A graduate of Kent State University, Stahl has produced documentary works for the Museum such as Massillon in the Great War: Voices from the Archives , The Legacy of Steel , The Greatest Generation , and Faces of Rural America. She was plenary speaker for the Society of Ohio Archivists 2016 Spring Conference, and in 2015 she appeared on the Travel Channel's show, "Mysteries at the Museum," retelling the tale of Jacob Coxey's 1894 protest march. Her book, Early Massillon and Lost Kendal , was published by Arcadia Publishing Images of America series in 2017. Stahl serves on the board of the Greater Stark County Urban League, Massillon Historic Preservation Commission; she serves as President of the Spring Hill Historic Home and Underground Railroad Site board of trustees, and as Treasurer and Secretary for the Charity School of Kendal Foundation.
