The End of Human Limits? Exploring the History and Ethics of the Transhumanism Movement and Human Enhancement
Join Siegal Lifelong Learning for this upcoming lecture with Sana Loue JD, PhD, MPH, MSSA, Professor, Department of Bioethics, School of Medicine, CWRU. The transhumanist movement promotes the use of technology to enhance human physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities-potentially extending life, improving intelligence, and overcoming biological limitations. Advances in artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, brain-computer interfaces, and longevity research are bringing these possibilities closer to reality. This lecture explores the origins and goals of transhumanism, the technologies driving human enhancement, and the ethical questions they raise. Where is the line between therapy and enhancement? Should there be limits to altering human nature? Together, we will examine the promises, risks, and societal implications of humanity's technological future. This lecture is offered in collaboration with the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. --- Event Details:
