SCCS Graduate Student Research Colloquium
"A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965): The Making of a Holiday Classic Presenter: Brian Peterson, ACS PhD student This interactive presentation (75 minutes) will utilize slides, media, and audience engagement to explore the origins and making of a beloved holiday classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965). Central to this presentation will be chronicling the work of cartoonist Charles Schulz (1922-2000), jazz legend Vince Guaraldi (1928-1976), animator Bill Meléndez (1916-2008), and film producer, Lee Mendelson (1933-2019), as creative force in popular culture through their collaborative efforts that resulted in 38 televised specials (15 before the passing of Guaraldi in 1976) featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the Peanuts children. There is no cost to attend, all are welcome, and lunch is provided. The SCCS Graduate Student Research Colloquium gives our grad students the opportunity to present their research on campus.
