A Day in the Life of a Therapy Dog

Champaign County Library Main Meet Beau, Mercy Health's therapy dog, and hear from Nancy Schmelzer, a behavioral nurse practitioner about a day in the life of a therapy dog. Beau accompanies Nancy Schmelzer during her consultations with patients. Beau is certified through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Therapy dogs help with loneliness, improve mood and outlook, as well as enhance socialization for both patients and the staff, creating a more comforting hospital environment.
