On Saturday 24 October 2026, join fellow researchers for a Genealogy Lock-In at the Main Library in Downtown Cincinnati. This event was re-instituted last year, after several year hiatus due to COVID and building renovations. This popular event celebrates October as International Family History Month. The event begins at 6:30 p.m., after the library closes to the general public. Registrants will enter and exit via the Main Door on Vine Street. Even if you are at the library earlier that day, everyone must exit at 6:00 p.m. Genealogy Lock-In registrants may enter between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. Only. Once the lock-in begins, you may leave at any time or stay until 11:30 p.m. Once you leave the Lock-in, you cannot re-enter. You will have the Genealogy and Local History area all to yourself along with other genealogists with library staff to assist you if you need help. HCGS will provide snacks and drinks. There is convenient parking at the City of Cincinnati Garfield Garage which you enter on the south side of Ninth Street between Vine and Race. Participants may choose to leave on their own or in groups if they choose. The Lock-In is a great time to do research and network with other local researchers. Registration is required for the Lock-In. There is a limit to the number of people who can attend.
