Please join us for the next seminar in the Fall 2026 Bioengineering Seminar Series this Friday, October 9, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Eastern Time . Speaker: Nathan Crook, PhD Associate Professor Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering North Carolina State University Seminar Title: Engineering Bacteria to Eat Plastics Dr. Crook will discuss efforts to engineer bacteria such as Vibrio natriegens and Escherichia coli to produce plastic-degrading enzymes and use PET-derived monomers as a carbon source. The work aims to accelerate PET biodegradation and enable microbial approaches for plastic bioremediation and upcycling. Please see the attached flyer for the seminar abstract and speaker biography.
