Publishing Lifecycle and Open Access: Kicking in the Rotting Door Thursday, November 19, 4-5 p.m., online Scholarship is a conversation, but traditional publishing models can place research behind paywalls, limiting access and engagement beyond the academy. This workshop will introduce graduate students to the open access movement, including the benefits of making research more accessible, the connection between open access and authors' rights and options for opening their own work. A Q&A will follow the presentation. This workshop is part of a monthly series presented by UC Libraries in partnership with the Graduate College. Presenter: Melissa Moreau, Scholarly Communications Librarian, UC Libraries Presenter Bio: Melissa Moreau is the Scholarly Communications Librarian at the University of Cincinnati Libraries. She holds a publishing degree from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Information Studies from McGill University. After beginning her career in scholarly journals publishing, her work now focuses on open access advocacy and helping researchers navigate the publication cycle. She has also coauthored research on trends in open access journal policy in the law domain.
