Physics and Astronomy Colloquium: Kyle Sword
Kyle Sword is the R&D Director North America for NSG Pilkington North America and leads the research and development efforts in the architectural, automotive, and solar technologies. Title: Glass Components and innovation cycles As glass products and components continue to grow in complexity, understanding the broader systems in which they operate has become essential to driving innovation. Success is often determined not by the most technically advanced solution, but by the option that integrates most effectively into existing systems, delivers the greatest value, ensures supply chain reliability, or can scale to meet market demands. This presentation will explore key historical developments in glass innovation and examine how system-level considerations have shaped adoption and commercialization. We will also assess current challenges and opportunities within the photovoltaic (PV) and glass component sectors, highlighting the factors most likely to influence future innovation. Coffee, tea and refreshments are available beforehand at 3:30pm in the lobby in the first floor of McMaster Hall.
