Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention
QPR is an educational program that teaches lay and professional "gatekeepers" the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond. Gatekeepers can include anyone who is strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide (e.g., parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, caseworkers, police officers). QPR is open to Tri-C employees and students who will be in the same training session. There are three steps to the process: 1. Question the individual's desire or intent regarding suicide. 2. Persuade them to seek and accept help. 3. Refer them to appropriate resources. Only 25 seats per location. Register early to secure yours! Register Presented by Kevin Berg, Ph.D., LSW and Dave Nardecchia, M.Ed., LPCC, Counseling Faculty and certified QPR Instructors. Offered via Cuyahoga Community College's Help Is Here initiative.
