Marion Public Library Although many of us may live far from the coast, our daily lives are deeply connected to the ocean. From the air we breathe and the food we eat to our climate, economy, and quality of life, healthy oceans sustain us all. We will explore marine life, the challenges facing our oceans today, and the remarkable efforts underway to protect these vital ecosystems.Participants will also discover how indigenous and traditional ecological knowledge has contributed to ocean stewardship, why community involvement is essential to conservation success, and how individuals can make meaningful contributions to protecting our planet's waters.This 1hr course led by:Dr. Francisco "Paco" Ollervides, a marine scientist, nonprofit executive, and environmental leadership consultant with more than two decades of experience advancing conservation, organizational leadership, and community engagement.Dr. Ollervides holds a Ph.D. And a Master of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemical Engineering and Marine Resource Management from the Technological Institute of Superior Studies in Mexico.
