An overview of the development of the atomic bomb at the Manhattan Project National Park. This program is open to adults and teens. Registration is required. The Manhattan Project was one of the most transformative events of the 20th century. It ushered in the nuclear age with the development of the world's first atomic bombs. Most of this development took place in three secret communities located in Hanford, Washington, Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Ian Wilder, an education technician at the Park's Oak Ridge site, will be sharing the history of the three sites and their roles in the development of the atomic bomb. This program will be virtual. Join us at the library or watch at home via Zoom.
