This is the kick-off event for a day of celebrations featuring Homer's epic poem on the maritime adventures of Odysseus and Christopher Nolan's recent film version, entitled, The Odyssey . At the library we will mostly discuss the poem itself. The second event of the day will take place at The Athena Cinema, where there will be a screening of the film inspired by Homer's masterpiece, and in which there will also be a discussion after the screening. This presentation is in partnership with The Athena Cinema and OU Professor Emeritus Dr. Bill Owens of the Society for Classical Studies and Dr. Fred Drogula, Professor of Classics and Religious Studies at Ohio University. Also present for the discussion will be Dr. Ruth Palmer, Professor Emerita of OU, who is a Classical Archaeologist.
