Plant Club: UC Greenhouse Visit
You may have a house plant, but have you ever been to a plant's house? This month, we're changing things up with a visit to the University of Cincinnati's Greenhouse ! With a range of tropical and winter blooming plant residents, this biodiverse paradise has been a resource for researchers, educators, and community members for decades. Join us for a special guided tour on Saturday, September 19th led by UC Greenhouse manager and plant enthusiast, Audrey Trauth. We'll be departing Clifton Branch Library at 10:30am sharp to make our way through Burnet Woods to the greenhouse location on campus. *Due to recent construction, participants should expect to use at least one flight of stairs to reach the greenhouse. If it rains, we'll still meet at the Clifton Branch for an indoor activity! More about the Greenhouse: The University of Cincinnati's Greenhouse is home to a diverse selection of flora, from towering tropical ficuses to trailing stonecrops to vibrant, winter blooming Amaryllis. Though not well known around campus due to its location on the roof of Rieveschl Hall, the greenhouse has been around for decades, serving as a resource for numerous classes, clubs, and research projects. Its six separate rooms include 3 plant rooms, a nursery room, and 2 USDA accredited insect research rooms. While its primary function is to support research and learning for the university's biology department, it also serves as a general resource for all students and the local community. Throu
