APTC/CC Distinguished Lecture Series Seminar: Milos Popovic, PhD

Join us on November 6th, 2026 to hear from distinguished guest speaker Milos Popovic, PhD, PEng; Institute Director and Senior Scientist, The KITE Research Institute at University Health Network. Dr. Popovic will be presenting: "Neuromodulation and Neuroplasticity" In this lecture, Dr. Popovic will share the journey his trainees, colleagues, and he embarked on over the past 30 years, crafting numerous clinically relevant therapies. First, he will delve into FES therapy's role in restoring motor functions. Next, explore the augmentation of FES therapies through brain-machine interfaces. We'll then uncover the potential of electrical fields to enhance stem cell production and guide their movement. Finally, finish with discussing the application of facial stimulation for depression treatment. With the exception of stem cell therapy, all interventions have undergone patient testing and demonstration, with several already established as commercially viable products. The Distinguished Lecture Seminar Series is put on by the Advanced Platform Technology (APT) Center in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Research to bring in nationally recognized rehabilitation researchers to educate and foster collaborations with local research investigators, scientists, clinicians, students, and other professionals.
