2026 BGSU Public Safety Day

Build your safety knowledge, practice lifesaving skills and connect with the resources that help keep our community safe. Explore campus and community safety resources. Learn practical emergency preparedness skills. Take part in hands-on demonstrations with local and regional safety experts. At the conclusion of this event, a campuswide AlertBG test message is planned for approximately 1 p.m. To encourage all students, faculty and staff to spend a few minutes discussing emergency preparedness and campus safety. Here's what you can experience: BGSU Public Safety: Learn about safety on campus, ask questions with staff and try a demonstration with the alcohol impairment goggles. Bowling Green Fire Department: Learn about fire prevention and practice using a fire extinguisher. Ohio School Safety Center: Explore safety resources and educational materials. National Weather Service: Learn severe weather safety tips, watch tornado-in-a-bottle demonstrations, and learn how to prepare for extreme weather. Wood County Hospital: Get hands-on instructions to use CPR and an automated external defibrillator (AED). BGSU School of Nursing: Learn lifesaving bleeding-control techniques, including wound packing and direct pressure, with hands-on demonstrations.
