We are bringing people together to explore books that spark conversations about issues affecting our community. Each session pairs a thought-provoking book with a local nonprofit, organization, or community partner to provide local perspective and connection. Our first selection is Matthew Desmond's Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City. Through the stories of families and landlords navigating the housing crisis in Milwaukee, Desmond explores the devastating impact of eviction and the complex ways poverty, housing, and economic inequality intersect. The program will feature a facilitated discussion with Jessica Echols, Executive Director of Partners in Hope, who will offer a local perspective on poverty, housing instability, and the challenges facing our community. Participants will also take part in a mini poverty simulation. ► Books for discussion are available at the library, or try Libby on your favorite device to download a digital copy!
