A ward-winning poet and photographer Marcus Jackson will be on campus to read from his latest work, Love's Austere and Lonely Offices , the title phrase of which famously originates from Robert Hayden's celebrated poem "Those Winter Sundays." In his book, Jackson combines his street photography with his poetry to explore the social isolation, protests and survival that marked the Black experience and Existence during the turbulent years of 2020 and 2021. His poems have appeared in The American Poetry Review, The New Yorker , and The New York Times Magazine , among other publications. His debut full-length collection of poems, " Neighborhood Register ," was released in 2011, and his seco nd book-length collection, " Pardon My Heart ," was published in 2018. Jackson is a native Toledoan. After earning his B.A. From UToledo, he continued his poetry studies in NYU's graduate creative writing program and as a Cave Canem fellow.
