Astronomy & Cosmology
Marion Public Library How did simple observations of the night sky revolutionize our understanding of reality? In this course, we will trace the story of gravity through the eyes of Copernicus, Kepler, and Newton, exploring how planetary movements unlocked the fundamental laws of physics. We'll then zoom out to modern cosmology to uncover how the universe began and what it looks like on the largest scales. Finally, we'll bring our focus back home: with the Sun currently in a period of intense magnetic activity, we will engage in solar observation (weather permitting) to study sunspots and the science of space weather up close.Class Location: 146 N Main St, Marion, OH (OSUM Downtown Hub)Each 1hr course led by:Professor Chris Orban, a physics professor at OSU's Marion campus and a member of The Ohio State University Center for Cosmology and Astro-Particle Physics.***REGISTRATION & PAYMENT REQUIRED!
