America 250 Veterans program at Dover Library
America 250 Veterans program at Dover Library Local History Librarian Kim Jurkovic will present a program honoring World War II families from Tuscarawas County who sent more than one son or daughter off to war. The program, held on Monday, November 9 at 6:30 PM at Dover Public Library, is a continuation of the year-long celebration of America 250 and the monthly themes created by the State of Ohio. November's theme is "Ohio Serves: Remembering Veterans, First Responders & Front-Line Heroes." The program was inspired by the book Young American Patriots: The Youth of Ohio in World War II. The book's stated purpose was to never forget the debt of gratitude to those who offered their lives in the defense of their country and to create a book for service men and women and their families and friends with the likenesses of the soldiers during World War II. "When I started my research for this program," says Kim Jurkovic, local history librarian, "I wanted to include Tuscarawas County families with multiple sons and daughters who served during the war." Dover Public Library houses the archives of Dover Historical Society. Kim Jurkovic is available in the archive room for consultation every Tuesday and Thursday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. This program will be held on Monday, November 9th at 6:30 PM at the Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street.
