The Black Panther Party: Legacy, Leadership, and Lasting Impact Thursday, August 27 • 6-7:30 PM • Northwest Branch The 5th Annual Social Justice Speaker Series concludes with a reflection on the impact and legacy of the Black Panther Party, founded in Oakland, California, on October 15, 1966. This special event also commemorates the birthday of the late Fred Hampton, born on August 30, 1948, and explores the movement's influence on social justice, community empowerment, and civil rights. The Northwest Branch will close at 3:00 PM and reopen at 5:30 PM. Due to limited parking, carpooling is encouraged. Overflow parking will be available at the YMCA (2649 Salem Ave, Dayton, OH 45406) with a shuttle available from 5:15-5:45 PM (pre-event pick up) and 7:30-8 PM (post-event drop off).
