Linguistics Colloquium Series: Rethinking AI Readiness: What Really Drives K-12 Teacher AI Literacy?
The Linguistics Department of Ohio University presents Dr. Lu Cao discussing: "Rethinking AI Readiness: What Really Drives K-12 Teacher AI Literacy?" in via Teams Join the meeting here Abstract: As generative artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly reshapes teaching and learning, educators are increasingly expected to integrate AI into classroom practice. But what factors actually influence teachers' AI literacy? This colloquium shares findings from a dissertation study examining K-12 teachers' AI literacy, professional learning experiences, and perceptions of AI integration. Based on survey data from in-service teachers, the presentation highlights several interesting findings about the roles of technology use, professional development, and teaching experience in shaping AI literacy. Dr. Cao recently graduated with a Ph.D. In Instructional Technology in the Patton College of Education and is also an alumna of the Ohio University MA Applied Linguistics Program and was a faculty member of the Chinese Language Program in the Linguistics Department
