The Clothesline Project returns to OHIO Southern for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Every shirt on the line was made by a survivor of violence or by someone who lost a person they loved to it, and the color of each shirt stands for a different kind of violence. Hung together, they make visible what usually stays behind closed doors. The project started in 1990 with a small group of women in Massachusetts and has since traveled the world. The clothesline was chosen on purpose. Laundry has long been treated as women's work, and hanging it out was one of the few times neighbors spoke across the fence about what was happening inside their homes. The display will be up during Festival of the Hills on Saturday, Oct. 10. Free and open to the public.
