Wednesday Movie Club: Good Fortune

As Thanksgiving approaches, Wednesday Movie Club is thinking about the things that matter most (family, friendship, connections)...and whether having a lot more money would solve all your problems. Starring Keanu Reeves, Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen, Good Fortune is a funny and surprisingly thoughtful comedy about a well-meaning, albeit not particularly competent, angel (Reeves) who decides to help a struggling gig worker (Ansari). To prove money can't buy happiness, the angel swaps his life with that of his wealthy employer (Rogen). There's just one problem: being rich turns out to be pretty great. Written and directed by Ansari, Good Fortune combines an old-fashioned body-swap comedy with a sharp, modern look at work, money, and just how much difference a little financial security can make. But the best part of the film might just be Keanu Reeves showing off a wonderfully goofy comic side that we don't get to see nearly often enough.
