Distinguished Alumni Grand Rounds: Dr. Patricia Metting '75, '80

Our alumna Dr. Patricia Metting will give a grand rounds presentation on Friday, Oct. 9. Dr. Metting will receive the College of Medicine and Life Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award. Dr. Metting earned a bachelor's degree in individualized studies in 1975 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology in 1980. Dr. Metting was a member of the first class of Ph.D. Students at the former Medical College of Ohio (MCO) and was the first woman to graduate from the Ph.D. Program in Biomedical Sciences in what is now UToledo COMLS. As a faculty member who taught in the medical school curriculum for 37 years, as well as serving as Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the COMLS for 17 years, Dr. Metting has had an impact on thousands of M.D. Alumni of the COMLS, many of whom are practicing physicians and surgeons in Toledo and Northwest Ohio. Since her retirement in 2013, Pat has continued her involvement at UToledo, serving as a member and past president of the Board of Trustees of the COMLS Alumni Affiliate, which was named the UToledo Alumni Affiliate of the Year in both 2021 and 2022. She also served a two-year term as a member of the UToledo Alumni Association Board of Trustees.
