Sarah Hegenderfer Undergraduate Composition Recital
About Sarah HegenderferSarah Hegenderfer is a composer working across concert music, orchestral performance, and narrative-driven composition. Her work centers on cinematic atmosphere, natural imagery, and expressions of the human condition. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Music in Composition at the University of Akron, where she studies with James Wilding and Robert Brownlow. In addition to composing, she performs on classical guitar, voice, and trumpet. Her music has been programmed by professional ensembles and presented in both national and international settings. Her orchestral work Clearing of Snow was premiered by the Akron Symphony Orchestra and later featured on Cleveland's classical radio station. Her work Blood Moon was performed by the Cleveland Women's Orchestra at Severance Hall, and her music has also been presented internationally in Kaufbeuren, Germany. In addition to orchestral writing, Hegenderfer composes for chamber ensembles, solo instruments, and educational settings, with recent performances at University of Akron concerts, the International Saxophone Symposium, and guest residencies.
