Exhibit: Inspired by Nature and Spirit - Barb Stork
Inspired by Nature and Spirit Barb Stork's work blends abstracted natural forms with flowing lines and layered color, creating luminous landscapes that feel both observed and imagined. Her compositions evoke a quiet, meditative sense of place, in which nature and spirit intertwine through rhythmic patterns and symbolic imagery. Barb Mueller Stork has made art for as long as she can remember, shaped early on by her parents, Doris and Jack, who instilled a love of poetry, art, and the natural world. From her father, she gained a deep spiritual sensibility; from her mother - a devoted maker - an intuitive command of line and color. Life in an Air Force family meant frequent moves, but her years in Japan were especially formative. There, she encountered the luminous woodblock prints of artists such as Kawase Hasui - works whose quiet brilliance continues to echo in her art. Stork studied Fine Art at Sinclair Community College, Edgecliff College, and Wright State University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts. She has built a career as both an artist and an educator, teaching at institutions including the Dayton Art Institute, Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, and Rosewood Arts Center. Her work has appeared in more than 40 juried exhibitions, including Emerging Visions at the Ratner Museum in Bethesda, Maryland, and The Mystical Work of Barb Stork at the Missing Peace Art Space in Dayton, Ohio.
