Do you want to explore the airwaves, join a global community of people enjoying meeting others? Perhaps get involved with local emergency communications and services, or learn and teach about today's electronics? The Clark County Amateur Radio Association (CLARA, an organization with a 75-year history in the community) is conducting a class to prepare you for the FCC Technician Class Amateur Radio license. You'll cover the topics included on the FCC examination and gather the knowledge needed to pass the test and build your first amateur radio station using American Radio Relay League (ARRL) course materials. CLARA will conduct an optional FCC authorized examination session at the end of the class. Imagine yourself on the air in about two months! For ages 11 and up (or younger, if accompanied by an interested adult.) Reserve your seat in the class by sending an email to CLARA.W8OG.@gmail.com. Please indicate if you want to purchase the discounted ARRL Ham Radio License Manual in your email (some copies are available at the library). Students will be directed to useful online resources, but no computer is required. The Volunteer Examiner (VE) test session will be offered at the end of the course, for a fee (optional). For additional information, email info@w8og.org or call (937) 605-4951. Please note that all sessions will take place at the Enon Branch, except the October 10th session which is happening at the Main Library in the Warder Room.
