The University of Toledo and the Toledo Public Library present "Understanding the World," a lecture series offering fresh insights into the events transforming our world; from power and politics to conflict and culture. Dates in the series include: June 25, July 23, and August 13. Today's Topic "Power, Politics and Global Change: International Law and War" This session will examine how international law influences modern conflicts and provide insight into the legal and political frameworks that impact nations and individuals around the world. This session is led by Dr. Joel Voss , associate professor of political science. Joel Voss joined The University of Toledo as an assistant professor of political science in 2015. Prior to joining the department, he was a postdoctoral scholar in international studies and faculty in residence for global programs at North Carolina State University. Dr. Voss received his doctorate in August 2015 from the University of Virginia. His primary area of expertise at the intersection of international law and international relations and examines the role of international organizations in the creation and implementation of human rights.
