Speak Your Peace: Spoken Word Poetry Contest

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is proud to partner with Ohio Nonviolence Week and Mahoning Sojourn to the Past and invite students grades 7-12 to participate in Speak Your Peace, a spoken word poetry contest! Contest submissions are due by Tuesday, September 29. Students unable to submit before the deadline are welcome to attend the spoken poetry event and may participate in a small group activity to create an original poem. During the event, participants will hear from guest poet, Adrian Orlando Watson, and perform their own spoken word poetry centered around Martin Luther King Jr's 6 Principles of Nonviolence.
