The Thursday Channel: Book Discussion of The Serviceberry

The serviceberry is a deciduous bush whose pome-form fruit feeds a great variety of species, including humans, and is found all over the world, but has the greatest species diversity in North America, and remains in wild plentitude in Appalachia. The book we are reading, The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Indigenous scientist, Robin Wall Kimmerer, describes its dynamic role in ecology as a model for a healthy economy -- good for the human community, good for the biosphere.
