Fall 2026 Bioengineering Seminar Series Speaker: Juliana Vasco-Correa, PhD Assistant Professor Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering Penn State University Seminar Title: Engineering Bioeconomy Systems: Techno-Economic Analysis as a Design Tool for Emerging Biorefining Technologies Dr. Vasco-Correa will discuss how techno-economic analysis can be integrated with experimental research throughout technology development to guide research priorities, process design, and scale-up. She will highlight examples involving lignin valorization and anaerobic co-digestion to illustrate how process modeling and systems analysis can help identify promising pathways and meaningful experimental targets.
