The University of Toledo and the Toledo Public Library present "Understanding the World," a lecture series offering fresh insights into the events transforming our world; from power and politics to conflict and culture. Dates in the series include: June 25, July 23, and August 13. Today's Topic "Power, Politics and Global Change: How the Ukraine War Is Reshaping Europe and NATO" This session is presented by Dr. Barry Jackisch , associate professor of history and the Philip Markowicz Endowed Professor in Judaism and Jewish Biblical Studies at The University of Toledo. His expertise is modern European and world history. He received his Ph.D. from the State University of New York-Buffalo (SUNY), and specializes in the history of Germany, antisemitism and the Holocaust, as well as comparative approaches to war, genocide, human rights, race, and the environment. His first book, "The Pan-German League and Radical Nationalist Politics in Interwar Germany, 1918-1939" (Ashgate, 2012), examines an extremist antisemitic political organization independent from the Nazis and its role in destabilizing Germany's inter-war democracy.
