Elizabeth "Betty" Zane was only seventeen when she saved Fort Henry in the last battle of the Revolutionary War. Her life would inspire author Zane Grey's first book. Her family founded Zanesville, Marietta, Wheeling, and part of the first National Road. Let's celebrate this remarkable young heroine of the American Revolution and the early United States.
