The Revolutionary War Badge of Military Merit is the precursor to today's Purple Heart. To celebrate National Purple Heart Day, this program covers the history of the award from inception for non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Continental Army. It was renamed as the Purple Heart when it was redesigned and recommissioned in 1932 by General Douglas McArthur in honor of George Washington's bicentennial. Presentations will be made by President George Washington (aka Dale Fellows).
